Number of Images:

The PDI competition is open to both Standard and Advanced class members. There are two PDI competitions per season with colour and mono sections.

In each competition

Colour section –2 images maximum
Mono section  –2 images maximum

Note:

  • All images are awarded a score out of 30, the sum of which over the season is used to award the Standard member trophies. These scores are also used to award a "photographer of the year" trophy.
  • The top 5 images and ‘Highly Commended’ images in each section of the two competitions are awarded an image ranking score. The sum of which is uses to award the Advanced member trophies
  • There is no requirement to enter both the Mono and Colour sections of each competition or to put two images into each section
  • To compete for the "Photographer of the Year", and the Standard and Advanced Class cups, it is advantageous to enter two into each section of both competitions.
  • If you are not sure if you are Advanced or Standard class for each category, the competition's secretary will be able to confirm for you.
  • An image that has been previously entered into a Print or PDI Competition cannot be subsequently entered into another Print or PDI competition, and vice versa.
  • Images that have been previously entered into the Brannigan Knockout Trophy can be entered.

Image format & sizing:

  • JPG format, i.e. with the ".jpg" file extension.
  • sRGB or Greyscale
  • Sized to 3840 pixels by 2160 pixels - This means for a landscape orientation image the maximum dimension is 3840 pixels
    whereas for portrait orientation and square images, the maximum dimension is 2160 pixels.

Naming your images:

  • The title of the image must not exceed 25 characters in length.
  • The last two digits of the file name must be your member number, to mitigate duplicate titles & misallocations' 
  • Image naming must follow the following convention: 'Image Title yy.jpg' where:
    1. 'Image Title' is your title for the image
    2. ‘yy’ is your membership number.
    3. Just use spaces between words and membership number, there is no requirement to use dashes etc.  
  • For Example:  The reaper 87.jpg

Where to send your images:

Simply attach your Jpeg files directly to an email (do not zip them), and please send Mono & Colour on separate emails:-

Once submitted, you should get an automated receipt (this can take an hour or two) confirming that your image(s) have been received.
